Industrial sector contributes
about 7.7 percent to the GDP and employs 25.38 percent of the total
labore force. The industrial sector of Pakistan has as a neligable bas at the time of independence. The infrastructure facities were inadequate and conditional for industrial development were not favorable. However a lot of work was done for booting this sector and now Pakistan's economy has transformed from purely agrarian to a semi-industrial one. Pakistan has achieved self sufficiency in most on developing heavy industries likeiron and steel, Shipbuilding fertilizers and chemicals is in fairly advanced stages. |

Pakistan are Cotton, textile, sugar, chemical , cement, vegetable and
cooking oil, ghee, jute, engineering goods, fertilizers, motorcycles and
bicycles, Textile industry is the targets industry of the country,
representing 60 percent of total exports Pakistan has only one Steel mill, which is producing pig iron for various mancine and tool manufacturing industries of the country. Machines like rods rollers, traitors cement plants and sugar plants are being made at Heavy mechanical complex, Taxila scrape steel obtained from ship breaking and old machine part is a source of raw material to foundary and forge industry Since Pakistan's economy is predominantly agricultural , agro based industrial which include rice and wheat milling, gur and sugar making, dairy products hosiery etc. are also making important contribution |
